I couldn't find a big shampoo bar discussion even thought google so I created a new thread to ask some specific questions.

I know shampoo bars are a soap based product but the soap smell is something I just cannot tolerate. Is there a way around that?

I'm hypersensitive to scents and have been using non-scented cone-free conditioners for CO washing for almost a year now and my hair loves it (mainly). What I don't love is the flatness I get in my hair from that. The hair is smooth as anything and I love that, but for a while I've been trying to look for alternatives that I could use to get even a little bit of volume.

So I bought a shampoo bar. The only kind that I could find in a shop was this one Finnish brand FLOW. I looked it up and found some mixed reviews but I thought I'd give a go anyway. The bar I got was "beer and egg" and it was aimed at giving volume to hair. The main ingredient is sodium cocoate. I disliked the smell in the shop already (there were a bunch of other smells too since it's one of those eco blah blah stores) but I figured that maybe the smell would disappear after thorough rinsing and ACV rince. It didn't. I figured it would go away after my hair had dried. It didn't. I had to braid my hair and every time I take the braid out I smell the soap. I can't take it for long. Soon i'll have to wash the smell off my hair. I can't really try and mask the soap smell with some essential oils as I can't stand even those smells every time my hair gets near my face. My hair needs to be scent free.

On the notion of what the shampoo bar wash did to my hair:
Maybe my hair has a little more volume but my hair wasn't as wavy as after CO washing when it had dried. Also for the first time since when I've used hairspray my hair was tangly after wash. The kind of sticky lank mess they said might be there after the first to the first 10 washes. I knew this could be something to expect but I'm not impressed. Is this something that really is normal for a good shampoo bar? Or is there better in store for me if I keep going with another brand? Am I just doomed and need to go back to CO washing?

If anyone has some suggestions to how to get volume to my hair in another way I'll be all ears too!
