Odd uses for hair accessories / bands / decorations etc.

Ok we have had the thread about odd items worn in the hair, I'm going to turn it around and ask what odd things have you used hair accessories / bands / decorations etc. for in the past?

At work last night a small drive belt on one of the machines snapped, being the middle of the night the spare parts room was locked. I put my hair elastic around the pulleys, it was about as close as it could be to snapping but it did reach, just. it worked for 5 hours and was still going strong when I came home.

Other than that, the cats always get my elastics to play with when I have finished with them. Must be lots of other used I just can't think of them right now.

I use hair elastics for lots of things, the one that comes to mind is to keep rolled up posters from unraveling when I take them off the wall. I often use my claw clips to hold two corners of my towels together around my shoulders (like a cape) while my hair is drying. I don't know if that counts, though, since it still has to do with hair. I like the thread idea!

I don't remember if I had done anything odd with my hair accessories in the past. Only, I did and I still do use bobby pins to make passing a garter through the cloth easier. I use them when I don't see a safety pin around.

I have used claw clips for holding down the end of toothpaste tubes.

I tend to end up using them as elastic bands, especially since I bought 90 metal free elastic so I would never be short of hair bands, then decided they were too rough anyway! oO My cat loves them too, but I don't like him having them since he chews them. He is really skilled at picking them up with one paw, he seems to have quite dexterous fingers/claws.

I use hair pins for factory resetting electrical equipment, like routers etc I've tried picking locks with them like they do in films, but there are better tools for that really.

I'm sure there's more thing like this but I can't think of them right now...

I have some hair clips with big fake flowers on them. I clip them onto my curtains to hold them open and for decoration.

As a toy sword?
I use clips to keep things like washing powder,coca,sugar etc. from spilling.

The other day we lost the top to a soda bottle so we took plastic wrap and a hair tie to make a replacement :P
