There is a strong belief that Lush products are "natural". Just watch all the "Lush Haul" videos on YouTube. I sense the word "natural" has many interpretations. Does "natural" mean that the products are "handmade", without prerservatives, organic, use essential oils versus fragrance oils or are free of artifical colors, etc? I am not entirely sure what natural means myself. If all of the above, then I have generally seen more "natural" soaps and body care products on Etsy and at Craft Fairs. However, Lush does not contain the detergents, suffectants, and preservatives found in many commercial soaps. So I see Lush somewhere in the middle in terms of naturalness...again contingent on personal interpretation.
If I were not a soapmaker, I would be buying my soaps and bodycare products from Etsy and at local craft shows and I would still be reading the ingredient list carefully. I believe the Etsy price points are much better too.
