I used to use a half-and-half mixture of gel and regular conditioner as a leave-in, but started experimenting. I went to a natural leave-in (Shea Moisture line) which I liked, but my hair lacked shine. Then I tried half-and-half gel and coconut oil. That did pretty well, but it still didn't shine a lot, and I was missing the silkiness I used to have. So now I have a leave-in in my hair that is 2 parts conditioner, 1 part coconut oil, and 1 part gel. It's perfect. I use White Rain conditioner, refined coconut oil (Lou Ana) and La Bella Wet Shine gel. My hair is shiny, silky, and moves well with less tangling. This makes me happy. I have my old hair back, which is good. And it's easlily brushed out from 3a curls to waves if I want.
I'm glad this routine is working for you. I just tried a styling gel that is all natural and gives great shine. It's Max Green Alchemy's Styling Gel and it really makes my hair soft and shiny, and I don't really need a leave in at all when I use it. I bought a little travel size to try before I bought a large bottle. You may want to check it out in the future to alleviate the need for three products.
