metrosexual seeks skin care advice

Margaret Here's my two cents:
1. A mild cleanser. Cetaphil is fairly cheap and dermatologists keep mentioning it in articles. Use it at night.
2. An exfoliating scrub. I like Neutrogena Visibly Even foaming cleanser, but there are a lot of them out there, Almay is also good. Use it in the morning.
3. Alpha- Hydroxy or Retinol product for anti-aging. Neutrogena has a good group, Advanced Solutions, comes in two parts, one for nighttime and another with SPF 15 for day. This stuff is to speed up cell turnover and slough off the old crap, and stimulate collagen production. They also have a more intense facial peel that you put on twice a week for 10 minutes, that is supposed to be as effective as a weekly peel at the facialist. They are all designed to work as a routine together. The line is a little pricey for drugstore, though. Their Healthy Skin line has more basic products for a bit less. Neutrogena and L'Oreal both have men's lines now. I'm not familiar with them, but I bet it's essentially the same as the women's, without the foofoo perfumes and with more phallic packaging.
4. A good SPF 15+ sunscreen over your face & neck every single day always and forever. This will keep you from getting wrinkles and age spots. The most important product in the bunch.
5. If you're not exhausted by now, some kind of rich moisturizer for your eye area- the Alpha Hydroxy/ Retinols are too harsh and you don't want to use them around your eyes. You don't necessarily have to spend the dough on eye cream, Cetaphil moisturizer is good.
